I have always loved fresh flowers, I've grown up with my mum constantly putting them around the house and it's worn off on me. I have only recently started to buy myself flowers. The first time I did it I wasn't sure if I just looked extremely lame or sad that my boyfriend wasn't the one sending them to me. Distance makes spontaneous flower gifts pretty difficult so I have to improvise! After my first purchase I took to Twitter to scope the feel and view of buying your own flowers. The support and response I received was amazing. My feed was filled with such lovely messages, it really did show me the positive power of social media and the amazing community that I have around me. But do you know what I've learnt.. if it makes you happy, do it!
Having fresh flowers in my room not only creates a gorgeous scent but I've found it really does brighten up my mood. If I'm stressed or worrying then having beautiful flowers to look at, touch and smell just makes me calm instantly. I've also found interest in buying different vases and jugs to put them in.
I love finding the perfect flowers and also switching up the variation that I take home. So far my all-time favourites are peonies, roses and gerberas. I always seem to pick the white and pink flowers as they match my room colour scheme and I absolutely love the colours together.
As soon as I purchase them I cant wait to get home to sort them and place them in their rightful position. I find fresh flowers such a stress reliever and I take real pride in assorting them and keeping them looking beautiful throughout their life.
Around three days after purchasing, flowers always look their best. Once they've bloomed and adjusted to their new surroundings they really do look beautiful. This was definitely the case for the peonies above as they really came out and become such huge and gorgeous flowers.
Buying myself flowers is such a weekly routine that I will always maintain. The benefits it has on my mood is 100% worth it and they are just so gorgeous to look at. If you haven't ever bought yourself flowers - do it! It's strangely empowering and who needs a man to buy you flowers anyway?! I'd much rather pick the perfect bunch for myself and be proud of it!
