Last weekend was the baby shower for my sister-in-law and I was in charge of the planning. As soon as we found out she was expecting a baby girl (a niece! Finally a gorgeous baby girl to add to the family!) I knew the shower had to be pink, pink and anything else pink!
Pinterest is an absolute saviour for party planning. My sister and I spent many evenings trawling through it to get some inspo! The best thing I found was pink baby bottles filled with pink lemonade and pink stripey straws. I got on to finding these first (priorities) but I couldn't find bulk pink baby bottles that didn't break my bank anywhere. And then along came Groupon. They worked brilliantly and everyone loved them. I don't know what it is about adults having drinks from baby bottles but it was weirdly so much fun!
The next huge idea was to have a big sweet stand full of pick & mix. I love the thought of people filling up their own bags and eating as many sweets as their hearts (and mine) desire. I am so so pleased this worked out the way it did. It looked so effective.
The cake was made by my sister-in-laws mum and it was absolutely beautiful. She made it all herself and she's appearing on GBBO next week (jokes).
We also did a Guess the Date gift for the mammy-to-be (she's Welsh) and had so many games through out the day! Baby Bingo, make a nappy out of toilet roll, pin the nappy of the balloon and A - Z of baby things. Every prize given out for the games was a huge sweet dummy that tied around their necks. I loved it.
My favourite gift we gave to her took ages to make. My mum, sister and I wanted to make a balloon hamper for her. Somehow we managed to attach this heavy balloon fan to the basket and it stayed, just about! It took so long but I think it looks beautiful and it is now residing in the nursery hanging by the window!
Instead of doing a guest book with messages we wanted to make her something she could hang in the nursery. We found this on Pinterest and it worked perfectly! We had every guest sign their names and then at the end we made this as the final gift.
The day was so so much fun and I wish I could do it all over again. Who's next?!
